Executive Officers

AbdulRaheem Bello

Chief Executive Officer

As Afthon’s CEO, AbdulRaheem is responsible for the strategic direction, core technology development strategy, and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the company. AbdulRaheem founded the company in 2014. He earned dual bachelor’s degrees in astronomy and physics in three years from the University of Texas, Austin, aged 18. AbdulRaheem holds a master’s degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Texas, Arlington, where he is currently an aerospace engineering doctoral candidate. AbdulRaheem has experience in researching detonations for industrial applications and for power production.

Dr. Frank Lu P.E.

Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder

Dr. Frank Lu serves as Afthon’s CTO, and is responsible for providing scientific and technical direction for our company. Dr. Lu is a professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering, and director of the Aerodynamics Research Center at the University of Texas, Arlington, where he has been on the faculty for 28 years. He has over 25 years of experience working on pressure gain combustors and will be responsible for core thermodynamic innovation at Afthon. Dr. Lu is the inventor of several patented technologies which Afthon aims to commercialize. Dr. Lu earned his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the Pennsylvania State University, a M.S.E. in mechanical and aerospace engineering from Princeton University, and B.A. and M.A. degrees in engineering from Cambridge University.

Dibesh Joshi

Chief Research Officer and Co-Founder

Dr. Dibesh Joshi is Afthon’s Chief Research Officer. In this role, Dr. Joshi will lead our scientific and engineering research and development functions, including exploring additional uses of our core technology. Dr. Joshi obtained his doctorate in aerospace engineering in 2014 from the University of Texas, Arlington. Following his doctorate, Dr. Joshi continued at UTA as a research scientist performing detonation engine work under sponsorship of two Fortune 200 companies. He has more than six years of experience researching detonation engines and is the author of five peer-reviewed papers in the detonation space. Dr. Joshi earned his bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Texas, Arlington.

James Peace

Chief Design Officer and Co-Founder

As Afthon’s Chief Design Officer, James is responsible for the conceptualizing and implementing the design and construction of the products in our technology portfolio. He is an aerospace engineering doctoral student at the University of Texas, Arlington, with over three years’ experience researching detonation engines, and will design the LinGen.TM James has designed a number of proprietary, detonation-based systems for large commercial enterprises, as well as for in-house concepts. He earned his bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering (with a minor in mechanical engineering), magna cum laude, from the University of Texas, Arlington, in 2014.

Akin Adekeye

Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder

Akin is responsible for running the day-to-day operations of our company under our CEO’s direction. Akin is a practicing corporate and technology attorney with a decade of legal transactional experience and is licensed to practice law in New York, Connecticut, Texas and the District of Columbia. He has acted as outside counsel and internal counsel to businesses in the energy, manufacturing, aviation, technology, and other industries. Akin received his J.D. from the Howard University School of Law in 2005, his MBA from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business in 2014, dual bachelor’s degrees in computer engineering and computer science (with a minor in mathematics) from the University of Bridgeport in 2002, and is working on a master’s degree in strategic management from the Kelley School of Business.
